Berkshire 8U County FUN Day!

Berkshire LTA are holding a FREE County Fun Day on Sunday 16th June 2019 at Maidenhead Tennis Club.

It is an opportunity for very young Berkshire tennis players who are developing a love of the game to enjoy a fun session organised by Berkshire LTA Coaches.

It acts as a first taste of the LTA Performance Pathway for players and parents and provides the opportunity for players to play tennis with other similar aged Berkshire players. It will also allow Berkshire Coaches to raise their awareness of players who could be considered for County Training for September.

We have extended the age criteria to all players born after 1st April 2011 that have some experience of playing tennis.

If you haven't already done so, please book your place by clicking on the link to register.

BERKSHIRE County Tennis Squad perform well at Lionel Cox Competition 2019!

The Berkshire County Tennis squad, consisting of 9U, 10U and 12U Boys and Girls, had a strong performance at this year's Lionel Cox Competition. The players had to fight the elements on the first day, with plentiful showers breaking up play and threatening to ruin the weekend's Tennis. All players performed to a very high standard, with close matches constantly on display. A great event for Junior British Tennis with some very talented players having some impressive matches that would rival the professionals at wimbledon.

The Boys 10U managed to reach the final and norrowly came 2nd to a very strong Suffolk team. They won every match without conseding a set until the final. The Girls 10U narrowly missed out on a place in the final and fought hard in the 3rd place playoff. However, despite an impressive match, were beaten so came 4th. This is the best performance by the Berkshire 10U for a while.

The 9U had great fun and put in lots of effort. The competition this year proved very strong but with a mix of wins and defeats the boys finished 6th and the girls 7th. They had some incredible rallies and made Berkshire proud.

The 12U boys and girls, playing on clay were disrupted throughout the day with rain, making it very hard to keep on a roll and focussed. However, they all battled very well considering the harsh weather and the good competition this year! There were some fantastic matches played and they all displayed grit, determination and talent, giving a fantastic representation of our county! Overall Berkshire finished 5th as a team but considering the competition being so strong this is a great result for Berkshire.
